Helmi (Aalto) Pucino of Vernon died peacefully on Thursday, (July 19, 2012) surrounded by her family. Born May 18, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY she was the loving wife of the late John J. Pucino. A Vernon resident for over 60 years, she was a graduate of East Hartford High School. Retiring from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft after many years of service, she enjoyed her many travels with her daughters and grandchildren. A woman of great generosity and spirit, Helmi was an active member of the Avery Street Christian Reformed Church where she volunteered her time and services. She was proud of her Finnish heritage and a member of the Finnish American Heritage Society. She is survived by her children, Kathleen and Daniel Hutson of Andover, Helmi Ann Pucino and David Kaufman of Amherst, MA, and Chriscarol and Harry Pilver of Bristol. Helmi, the world's best grandma, leaves a legacy of love to Scott Hutson of Oakdale, John and Deana Hutson of Chester, Brendan Pilver and Kathyrn Blair of Bristol, Katrina Pilver and Fred Paulk of Norwalk, Zachary Kaufman and Nicole Kaufman of Amherst, MA, and Tanisha Singleton of Atlanta GA. She also leaves her extended family and numerous friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Anna Riley, her beloved grandson, Douglas Hutson, her sisters, Carrie Hill and Clara Rose and her infant brother, Charles Dillon.
Relatives and friends may join the family on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St, Rockville. The funeral service will be Monday, July 23, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Avery Street Christian Reformed Church, South Windsor. Burial will follow in St Bernard's cemetery, Rockville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Avery Street Christian Reformed Church, 821 Avery St, South Windsor, CT 06074.
