Alda (Amprimo) DeBortoli, 96, passed away peacefully at her home on January 16, 2016. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and Nona who will be dearly missed by many. Alda was born on April 3, 1919 in Moosup,CT to the late Ricardo and Laura Amprimo and later moved and graduated from Stafford High School. In 1940, Alda then married the late Mario DeBortoli and resided in Ellington for 75 years. She worked at the Manchester Klock Company and was a nurses aid during the war. She worked many years and eventually retired from the Town of Vernon Board of Education. Alda owned a beach cottage in Misquamicut Rhode Island for over 50 years, where she created so many wonderful memories for many to cherish. Every summer she enjoyed the beautiful beach, peaceful ocean and long walks to the pink house. Alda was an amazing cook and enjoyed delicious food. Alda's passion for knitting was appreciated by many who received beautiful blankets and prayer shawls which were donated to many people to enjoy. She loved playing mahjong with "the ladies" and enjoyed spending quality time with her friends. She was a sports fanatic, cheering on her beloved UCONN Women Huskies, and the Green Bay Packers. She looked forward to and enjoyed her many visits from family and friends at her home and cottage throughout the years, always being the gracious host. She was an original parishioner of St Luke's Church in Ellington. She will always be remembered for her kindred spirit of life and her strong will to live independently.
She is survived by her adored daughter Cynthia Grant and Son-in-law Bruce Olitzky of San Francisco, California; her loving grandchildren, Paul Anderson of San Francisco, CA, John Edgar of Port Huron, Michigan, Peter and his wife Krystal Anderson of Vernon, and Abby Olitzky of Ann Arbor, Michigan. She is also survived by her cherished great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kourtney and Luke Anderson her Godchild Holly Sawtelle and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Mario DeBortoli; along with three loving daughters, Vonne Marie Edgar, Gayle DeBortoli, Donna Anderson and her charming grandson David Edgar.
The family would like to especially thank her caregivers, Maureen, Robin and Sherrie who took great care of Alda. Also, a special thank you to Visiting Nurse & Health Services of CT., for all of their services.
