Elsie Johndrow Darling, 84, of Vernon, beloved wife of the late William J. Darling, Sr., passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016. She was born April 5, 1932 in Hartford, daughter of the late Raymond and Wilhelmina (Hensel) Johndrow. She is survived by her son William “Dusty” J. Darling, Jr. and his wife Paula and her daughter Sheryl O’Coin and her husband Jeffrey all of Vernon. Elsie also leaves her grandchildren James O’Coin and his wife Jill and their son Logan of Ellington and Daniel O’Coin and his wife Rachel of Vernon. She loved her family especially her grandchildren. Elsie was an active member of the Ellington Congregational Church. The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Fox Hill Center for their wonderful and compassionate care they gave to Elsie for nine years. Relatives and friends may join the family on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 4-7 PM at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street, Rockville, CT 06066. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Ellington Congregational Church, 72 Main Street, Ellington, CT 06029. Burial will follow at Ellington Center Cemetery, Ellington. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Ellington Congregational Church.
