Kay Marie Myott, 71, passed from this life Monday, September 12, 2016 having been surrounded by friends and family throughout the weekend. Kay was born in Fremont, Michigan. She married the love of her life, Gordon Myott, in New Hampshire in 1968 and soon welcomed two daughters. They made homes in Stafford, Ellington and Tolland, Connecticut. She spent 15 years working for the Doctors Palozej optometry practice in Ellington, retiring as an optician. Kay enjoyed reading, cooking, making birthday party cakes, volunteering with her church and traveling the world with her husband and many dear friends. Kay’s biggest joy was being Grammy to Abby, Ethan, Hanna and Luke and they adored her. She was a fixture at many sporting events, recitals and school events where friends and teammates of the grandchildren also knew her as Grammy.
Kay was predeceased by her loving husband, Gordon. She is survived by her immediate family: daughters Tracy (Joe Williams) and Kelly (Josh Bigelow); her cherished grandchildren Abigail, Ethan, Hanna and Luke; her beloved brother, Marvin Tjalma and his wife, Denise; her nephew Justin Tjalma and his wife, Heather; and many extended family members including cousins, in-laws and several close friends. Calling hours will be held Friday, September 16th from 4 pm – 7 pm at Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road (Rt. 195), Tolland. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 17th at 10 AM at Second Congregational Church, Route 190, Stafford. Burial will follow at West Stafford Cemetery.
