The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Nelson Bearce can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolences

Condolence From: Noel Tomas
Condolence: On behalf of the Board of Directors and membership of the Museum of Connecticut Glass located on Rt. 44 Coventry, we express our sincere condolences and express our sorrow of having lost a founding member of the Museum; a one-time member of the Board, a master caretaker of our properties along with Nelson's grandsons in replacing a door, building a modern bathroom to meet town requirements, and repairing roof and other parts of our buildings. He along with the late Arnold Carlson built and started the bins for collection of donated deposit containers that continues today which funds many of our projects, utilities, insurance and necessary maintenance. He also contributed some historical Coventry glass to the Museum's collection. May he rest in peace.

Condolence: I have had the pleasure of knowing Chic most of my life. In my high school days I worked for him at the machine shop and painted his house. In 2006 I became his assistant taking care of the town cemeterys He taught me a lot- Always in a kind but firm way. He aways enjoyed talking and telling stories about trips to maine. I will sure miss him!! Mike

Condolence From: Bob Pruitt
Condolence: 98! What a life he had. He was a good friend to many and will be sorely missed. Our Thursday lunches have not been the same since he stopped attending. Even after his hearing went to pot and I suspect he could hear little of the banter......one look at his face revealed his pleasure at the good-natured ribbing that went on. Our peak membership was 12 to 14 guys. And every one of us was there because of Chic and his friendship. He will be missed.

Condolence From: Jon "Kelly" Hand
Condolence: I grew up in the neighborhood around Chic's machine shop; walked past it twice a day. On hot days, a few of us kids would pool our change and buy a couple of bottles of Hosmer Mountain soda from their soda machine. Chic and the guys were always nice to us.

When I grew up, I kept hearing his name at town functions and events. I knew he was involved, but only learned of the depth and breadth of his participation upon reading his obituary.

Coventry will miss one of its biggest supporters.

RIP, Chic.
