Obituary for Albie C. Matyia

Albie C. Matyia, 84, of Andover, beloved husband of Barbara (Hughes) Matyia passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017. He was born June 17, 1932 in Rockville, the son of the late Joseph and Aurora Matyia and Bernice (Lemek) Matyia. Albie enjoyed fishing, boating and bowling. He was a huge fan of polka music and Toby Keith and made a point of watching “The Christmas Story” every year. Albie served in the Navy for four years followed by many years at United Technologies and Clyde Chevrolet before retiring in 1986. Albie and Barbara were fortunate to enjoy over 30 years in retirement splitting time between their home at Riverland in Stuart, FL and in CT on Andover Lake. Besides his wife, he is survived by his four daughters and their spouses, Joann and Brian Bolles of Tolland, Jacki and Doug Friedrich of Union, Terry and Bryan Evans of Vernon, and Patti and Ken Nota of Bradenton, FL; his two brothers and their spouses, Lenny and Betty Matyia of Bolton and Ray (Donald) and Sue Girard of Rocky Hill; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving son, Paul Matyia. Family and friends are invited to join Albie’s family at 9:30 AM on Monday, June 5, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Church, 33 West St., Rockville, CT 06066 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM.
