Obituary for Donna K. Mieczkowski (Burch)

Donna K. Mieczkowski (Burch)
Donna K. Mieczkowski, 74, of Coventry, beloved wife of Roger Mieczkowski, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017. She was born September 17, 1942 in Pampa, Texas, daughter of the late Edward Lee and Mary K. Burch.
After losing her father at the age of 7, she and her family moved from West TX to northeastern TX and settled in Paris where she grew up. She graduated Paris High school in 1960, and after a couple of years in college, decided to take a vacation to Hartford,CT to see her big sister, Sandra. After a couple of visits she found work and decided to stay.
While working for a doctor in Hartford Hospital she met her future husband, Roger, who was interning as a pharmacist at Hartford Hospital. They were married in April of 1964 and had two sons. In the summer of 1970 they moved to Coventry, CT, where she lived for the rest of her life.
Donna never lost touch with her TX roots, friends or family; she visited many times throughout the years. Whether it was visiting her siblings in Greenwich, CT, Orchard Beach, MI, Winchester, VA or throughout the state of TX, she loved her family and her nieces and nephews dearly.
During her time in Coventry, Donna made a lot of friends in and around her neighborhood. These friendships lasted for the rest of her life. She had many interests and was very good at bowling, golfing and tennis. She loved to cook not only for her family but for her friends and neighbors as well. She was an incredibly giving and selfless person.
Donna’s biggest passion was music. She could sight-read music and was a great pianist. She also loved her ukulele. Donna enjoyed a wide variety of music and made sure her young children were exposed to music theory and lessons. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh right up to the end.
Besides her loving husband Roger, she is survived by her sons, Christopher Mieczkowski and Timothy Mieczkowski and his wife Lauren; her siblings Paula Burch, Charles Burch, Martha Burch and Cynthia Wilcoxson. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her brother, Joe Burch and her sister, Sandra Burch (Luts). The family would like to thank Masonicare Hospice and Fox Hill Center for their incredible assistance. Relatives and friends may join the family on Friday, June 30, from 4-6 PM at the Coventry-Pietras Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Tpke (Rt. 44), Coventry, CT 06238. A memorial service will follow at 6 PM. Burial will be private. For online condolences, please visit www.pietrasfuneralhome.com
