Obituary for Leonard M. Giglio

Leonard Michael Giglio, 81, of Bolton and loving husband of Lorraine (Wilson) Giglio passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 7, 2017.

Leonard was born on March 25, 1936, oldest son of the late Leonard L. and Alice (DePietro) Giglio. He was a lifelong resident of Bolton and spent most of his life working hard on his family dairy farm, Rockland Farms. Leonard was an animal lover and enjoyed sharing his love of farming with students from the Rockville High School Vo-Ag program. Leonard was a volunteer with the Bolton Volunteer Fire Department and on the Bolton Board of Fire Commissioners. He was an avid Yankees fan, enjoyed country music and square dancing, and bowling in his earlier years. Throughout the years, Leonard developed friendships with people of many walks of life. His quick-wit and jokester ways always kept his friends and family on their toes.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Leonard W. Giglio and his wife Cheryl, of Bolton, David Giglio of Lebanon; a step-daughter Tammie Carr and her husband Dennis, of Vernon; four grandchildren, Heather Giglio and Gregory Giglio, and Gregory Carr and Chad Carr; a close friend, Christine Moore; two brothers, Raymond Giglio and his wife Beverly of Coventry, and Lawrence Giglio of Coventry; two nieces, and many additional extended family.

Friends and Family may gather on Tuesday, July 11 from 9am-11am at Coventry-Pietras Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Turnpike (Rt. 44), Coventry, CT. A Funeral Home Service will be held at 11am with burial to follow at East Cemetery, Manchester.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Leonard’s memory may be made to the Rockville High School Vo-Ag program, 70 Loveland Hill Road, Vernon, CT 06066 or VNA Hospice Care, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066.
