David A. Goodwin, 66, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Louise (Shaskin) Goodwin for 42 loving years passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 29, 1950 in Hartford, the son of the late Walter and Lillian (Stockwell) Gudzunas. He was an avid gardener, lover of plants and loved handing out plants and flowers to people. He enjoyed yearly trips to New Hampshire and the Big E with his family. He was so brave and kept his sense of humor even while he was ill. Dave’s wit, love for his family, and genuine concern and care for others led him to his final request to donate his corneas to someone in need. Besides his wife, he is survived by his two loving daughters, Lisa Coakley and her husband Frank of Colchester and Kate Goodwin of Broad Brook; his brother, Mark Gudzunas and his girlfriend Jayne of Enfield; his two “little buddy” grandsons, Evan and Ryan Coakley; his special sisters-in-law, Barbara Kraft and her husband Howard of NJ and Karen Meredith and her husband Bill of FL; his brothers-in-law, Gary Shaskin and his wife Pat of East Hartford and Richard Shaskin and his wife Lucille of Amston; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St., East Windsor, CT 06088. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 21, 2017 at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Broad Brook.
