Obituary for Julius J. Miffitt

Julius J. Miffitt, 92, of Ellington passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 22, 2017. Born in Rockville, the son of the late Frank and Dora (Green) Miffitt. He grew up in Tolland. In 1943 he joined the Merchant Marines and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944. During his enlistment he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. After his discharge Julius was employed by the Connecticut Light & Power Company for 35 years and retired in 1987.He loved to go deep sea fishing and was an avid Red Sox fan, and known to his friends and co-workers as “Bear”. Julius was a longtime member of the Italian Social Club. He was a loving husband to the late Georgianna (Coleman) Miffitt. He is survived by his children, Juliann Goodwill and her husband Phillip of Glastonbury, CT and Paul Miffitt and his wife Therese of Marlborough, CT; a grandchild, Ashley Miffitt of Huntington Beach, CA; Elaine Fetko, his loving and caring companion for these past eight years; a sister, Mae Lemieux of South Windsor, along with nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six brothers, Joseph, Francis, Mike, Elmer, George and Albert; and four sisters, Doris, Irene, Rose and Lillian. The Miffitt family would also like to express special thanks to the caregivers of our Dad. His family will receive family and friends for calling hours on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 5 to 8 PM at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St. Rockville, CT.
