Obituary for Wanda G. Bigelow (Deeves)

Wanda G. Bigelow, 80, of Tolland, beloved widow of Charles Bigelow to whom she was married for 62 years, passed peacefully on Saturday September 23, 2017 at Woodlake at Tolland with her family by her side. She was born on January 18, 1937 in Washburn, ME to the late Merle and Glenna (Stoddard) Deeves. Wanda had a passion for people and loved to talk to anyone who had a story to share. Aside from her beloved Chuck, Wanda’s most cherished treasures were her family, especially her children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She loved her siblings fiercely and kept their memories of growing up in Maine alive by story-telling. She was happiest during holidays, gatherings or just good, plain visits for no reason. Before they parted ways, almost eight months to the day, Wanda and Chuck enjoyed trips to the casino, canvas-painting and watching the birds together. Wanda is survived by her loving family: daughter, Gail Charron and her husband, Chris Charron; her daughter Lori Herrick and her husband, Jeffery Herrick; her eight grandchildren, Bruce, Brian, Jessica, Sheri, Jeffery, Jennelle, Serena, and Dawn; as well as her six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Janelle, Madeline, Lucas, Orwell, and Golding. As well as her siblings, Dwinal Deeves (Sharon), Earlyne Lamoreau, Victor Deeves (Claudette) and Robert Deeves (Diane), several special nieces and nephews, Sue Wilson, and also, her faithful companion, her bird, Sammy Sue. Besides her parents and her husband Charles, Wanda is predeceased by her daughter, Marilyn Bigelow; and her siblings; Janice Malm, Darrol Deeves, Sharon Kistner, and Paula Selden. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm with a musical treat beginning at 11:00 am at Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road, Tolland. A funeral home service will take place at 1:00 pm. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Her entire family would like to thank her staff at Woodlake, on the second floor, for taking extraordinary care of Wanda during the last year of her life, and for making her part of the Woodlake family.
