Alex B. Callis, age 58, passed away Friday October 20th after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Alex was born in Norwich Connecticut on February 8th, 1959 to Stella Tatem of Manchester and his late father Basel Callis. Alex is survived by his wife of 28 years Jocelyn B (Burke) Callis of Tolland and their children Katherine A. Callis and Thomas A. Callis. Alex is also survived by his sister Priscilla Dickman (her husband William) of Coventry, his brother Stephen Callis of Vernon his nephew Damon Callis (his wife Georgia and their children) of Silver Springs Maryland and his niece Kelly Gale(her husband Mathew and their children) of Colchester Connecticut as well as extensive community of caring family friends, colleagues and neighbors. Alex was predeceased by his brother Arthur Callis. Alex loved to work and spent the last 15 years working for Highway Safety Corporation in Glastonbury, he continued to work through his illness. But his true pride and joy was his family. Alex was known to all as a family man, his humor and loving nature is greatly missed by his family as well as all of those who had the pleasure to know him. A memorial service will be held at the United Congregational Church of Tolland on Sunday November 12th at 3:00pm. Memorial donations may be made in Alex’s memory to the American Lung Association.
