Obituary for Sheila A. Gray

Sheila A. Gray
Sheila A. Gray, 75, of Tolland, beloved wife of the late Charles R. Gray, Sr., passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 with her eldest son by her side. She was born June 21, 1942 in Hartford, daughter of the late Sigrid (Hansen) Pickett and Randolph C. Pickett. Sheila grew up in Waterbury and graduated from Wilby High School Class of 1960. She fulfilled her ambition to start her own family and moved to Tolland in 1967, making lifelong friendships with neighbors, and co-workers in Tolland's school system, over the course of the next 50 years. She was a member of the United Congregational Church of Tolland, where she was involved with the 'Knit and Pray' group and the Rose of Remembrance committee. She enjoyed building puzzles, baking for the holidays, scrapbooking, and regular walks with her friends. Sheila was kind hearted and thoughtful; she always remembered dates and was sure to send a card or get in touch on every occasion. She is survived by her children Raymond Gray of Stamford, VT and Charles R. Gray, Jr. of Stafford Springs, as well as her grandchildren Alexander and Dominick. She was predeceased by her sister Sharon Pickett. Relatives and friends may join the family on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road (Rt. 195), Tolland from 4-7 PM. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the United Congregational Church of Tolland, 45 Tolland Green, Tolland. Burial will follow at South Cemetery, Tolland. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Francis Foundation, 95 Woodland Street, 2nd Floor, Hartford, CT 06105. For online condolences, please visit www.pietrasfuneralhome.com
