Michael L. Szemreylo, 64, of Tolland died Friday, March 2, 2018 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Joan Szemreylo. Michael was born in Tolland, on November 3, 1953, the son of the late Henry and Ann Szemreylo and resided there all his life. After a long and successful career as an electrician, he retired at 62, to pursue his lifelong passion of farming and raising animals. He leaves three sons and daughter-in-laws Michael and Colleen Szemreylo of Tolland, Jason and Stephanie Szemreylo of Eastford, and Kevin and Diane Harrington of Pleasant View, NC, and late daughter Paula and her husband Dustin Pentz of Coalville, UT. He also leaves an uncle, Stanley Szemreylo of Tolland, two brothers and sister in-laws Henry and Deborah Szemreylo of West Stafford, Conrad and Gretchen Szemreylo of Tolland, and sister and brother-in-law Ann and Martin Honigberg of Concord, NH. He was predeceased by brother James Pierce and survived by sister-in-law Edwina Pierce. Michael was dearly loved by seven Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The receiving hours for family and friends will be 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday (March 8th) at Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road (Rt. 195), Tolland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday (March 9th), 10 AM at St. Matthew’s Church in Tolland, burial will follow at South Cemetery in Tolland.
