Obituary for Mary Rose Gale

Mary Rose Gale, 91, of Ellington, passed away peacefully at home March 15, 2018. Mary Rose was born October 14, 1926 in Lisbon, CT to the late Joseph and Clementia (Benoit) DesMaris. She was predeceased by her husband Andrew Sr. (1994) and by her brothers Lucien and Gerald, and most recently her sister Evelyn Andert of Eastford, CT. Mary Rose leaves behind her children Andrew and wife Della; John and wife Debi; Philip; Gregory and wife Tracy; daughters Anne Gale and Marti Zhigailo. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren that she beamed over- Travis, Emily, Conrad, Bradley, Jessica, Zach, Drew, Ryan, Max, Sydney, and Elliott and great grandchildren Caitlyn, Trent, and Luca. She would light up every time the kids came around and wanted to spoil them all. Also many nieces and nephews of the Andert and Chenette extended families. Mary Rose is and will always be the epitome of all that is good and kind in all worlds and with everyone. Her character embraced qualities of which we can only hope to aspire…loving, compassionate, empathetic, insightful, resilient, unselfish, forgiving, practical and modest, humorous and joyful, with amazing grace, perseverance and always full of her effervescent sparkle. Her smile caught everyone’s eye! Mary Rose married in 1952 and worked tirelessly side by side with her husband Andrew on the family farm; she still continued with the bookkeeping up to her recent illness. Sharp as a tack and quick wit, her wisdom and intuition far exceeded any degree. Thank you Mom for doing a spectacular job raising us kids, for your unconditional love, sacrifice and understanding. For sure Heaven just got a little brighter. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ellington Volunteer Ambulance, 41 Maple St., Ellington, CT 06029 or perhaps just do a kind act for someone in her honor; she would whole-heartedly approve and be grateful. Relatives and friends may join the family on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 6-8 PM at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville. A funeral home service will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 11 AM with burial to follow at Ellington Center Cemetery, Ellington. For online condolences, please visit www.pietrasfuneralhome.com
