Obituary for Annette R. Welton

Annette Rita Welton, beloved mother, grandmother and aunt died peacefully on April 23rd at the age of 92. Annette was born in Bristol, CT to Marie (LaCourse) and William O'Brien on June 3, 1925. During WWII Annette was a participant in the Nurse Cadet Program where she earned her nursing license. She later went on to complete a baccalaureate program at Charter Oak State College. In addition to careers in elder care, nursing, and overseeing the Blood Bank at Rockville Hospital, she was active in the Parent Teacher Association eventually being elected as the Regional Vice President for the state of Connecticut. She is preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, as well as son Leland Welton and daughter Susan Comeau. She is survived by her children Cynthia Witkewicz, Carolyn Cyr, Raymond Welton, David Welton; sons and daughters-in-law; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A woman of faith, she embodied the true spirit of Jesus accepting and loving others without hesitation. Annette found joy in spending time with her family and friends, volunteer work, square dancing, reading voraciously, quilting and appreciating antiquities. Her kindness will be greatly missed by everyone who had the blessing of calling her friend. Friends and relatives of Annette are welcome to join the family on Monday, April 30, 2018 between 5-7pm at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street, Rockville. A Church Service will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 11am at the Rockville United Methodist Church, 142 Grove Street, Vernon. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Tolland.
