Obituary for Paula Ann Michaud

Paula Ann Michaud, 62, of Vernon, CT passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. Paula was born on January 16, 1956 in Manchester, CT to the late Ruth (Crowley) and James Galligan. Paula is survived by her husband and greatest companion of 40 years Gary Michaud and their daughter Nicole Michaud and her boyfriend Alberto Amaro. She is also survived by her siblings, Patricia Begin of Manchester, CT, William Ashe Jr. of Vernon, CT, Nancy and William Mattson of Groton, CT, as well as nieces and nephews, Kate and Erik Wennerberg, Melody Gambino, Heidi and Matthew Gingerella and Monique and Michael Lawrence. Paula was predeceased by her father, James Galligan, step-father, William Ashe and her mother, Ruth Ashe. She attended school in Vernon, CT where she met her middle school sweetheart and the love of her life, Gary Michaud. Paula and Gary married on July 30, 1977 and later welcomed their daughter Nicole. Paula worked for Cuno/3M for over 41 years, retiring in March of 2018. She enjoyed spending time with family, which includes her husband’s large extended family, many of which she had the pleasure of growing up with even before becoming family by marriage. She loved taking trips to the beach, family gatherings, especially holidays, and visits with her great- nephews: Severin Bull-Moran, Grant Bull, Luke, Jack, Hunter Gingerella and Ben Wennerberg. Paula is fondly remembered for her kind nature, sense of humor and unrelenting love and acceptance for her family and friends. This love was evident as she was always helping her friends and family through all of life’s trials and tribulations.Without wavier, she put her loved ones before herself, embodying the role of protector of her family; most importantly making sure everyone knew how much they were loved. Her greatest role was being a wife and mother, both in which her love, compassion and personality were paramount in creating the most wonderful life for her husband and daughter. Relatives and friends may join the family on Thursday, July 26, 2018 between 4pm-6pm at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street, Rockville, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11am at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Vernon. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Vernon.
