Obituary for Fred H. "Doc" Stolle Jr

Fred H. "Doc" Stolle Jr
Fred (Doc) H. Stolle Jr, 91, a life-long resident of Broad Brook, CT, died peacefully on July 23, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Ruth E. (Miller) Stolle with whom he shared 69 years of marriage. Fred was born in Springfield, MA, the son of the late Frederick Stolle Sr, and Mary (Lynskey) of Broad Brook. As a young man he responded to the call of the nation and joined the U.S. Navy on Nov 6, 1944, and served in the Pacific during World War II as a Motor Machinist mate. He was honorably discharged from active duty on July 13, 1946, and immediately joined the Naval reserve. His final honorable discharge was on July 13, 1954. He joined the family business (Stolle Chevrolet) after the war and worked there a number of years. After the business closed, he continued to work at a number of local automotive dealerships as a parts specialist. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Roxanne Simpson and her husband Jim of Brimfield, MA, and grandchildren Marissa and James. He is also survived by his son Wayne Stolle and his wife Anita of Medway MA; grandchildren Kristen, Jonathan, Laura, and great grandchildren, Gavin, Harper, Maxwell, and Arianna. He was the oldest brother of William Stolle (wife Elsie) of Ashford, CT, of the late Beverly Woodard (late husband Stuart), and Claire Badstubner (late husband Fred "Fritz") of Broad Brook, CT. At his request, private arrangements for the immediate family will be provided by the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home in East Windsor, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation, (www.kidney.org) or to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, (www.macular.org).
