Obituary for Henry F. Butler

Henry F. Butler a longtime resident of Rockville, passed peacefully on August 5th in Tewksbury, MA at the age of 101. He was born in 1917 in Rockville, CT to the late Frank and Josephine (Kogutowicz) Butler, both immigrants from Poland. Henry was predeceased by his loving wife of 41 years, Josephine (Reardon) Butler; his sisters, Isabelle (Butler) Krumm and Rita (Butler) Anderson and his brother, Raymond.

Henry volunteered for the Army during World War II proudly serving four years in New Guinea and Australia. Upon his return from the war, Henry was employed by Lux, Bond, and Green in Hartford, CT as a jeweler and watch repair specialist. From 1952-1956, Henry served as a Probation Officer for the City of Rockville. It was in this job that he met his wife, Josephine (a policewoman in Providence, RI). The two married in 1958. Henry was initially appointed then elected the 13th Town Clerk of Rockville (now Vernon) where he proudly served for 35 years.

Henry leaves behind a son Raymond who resides in Tewksbury MA with his wife Maggie and their four children - Nora, Michael, Catherine and Emily; his beloved sister, Lillian Luginbuhl of Ellington, CT and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Small & Pietras Funeral Home, 65 Elm St., Rockville, CT 06066. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Church, 33 West St., Rockville, CT 06066. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville.
