Adela R. Young, 85, of Coventry, beloved wife of the late Fernando Young of 54 years, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in the Philippines on May 10, 1926, daughter of the late Clemente and Genoveva (Castro) Rivera. She left her life in the Philippines and immigrated to U.S. to make a better life for her family. She was a pharmacist for several years and then worked at her sister’s Ob/Gyn practice as an office manager for many years before retiring from Traveler’s Insurance Company. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed her family gatherings, loved to cook, and loved to travel. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Coventry before moving to Tolland; she was a devout catholic. She is survived by her children Charles Young of Coventry, Eugene Young and his wife Maria of Irvine, CA, Lucille Shaskin and her husband Richard of Hebron, Rebecca Mancarella and her husband Paul of Columbia, Jacqueline DeRosa and her husband Robert of Tolland, Peter Young of Huntington Beach, CA, and Christopher Young and his wife Deborah of Coventry. She also leaves her sister Dr. Rebecca Dugenio of Malibu, CA as well as 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Friday, November 11, 2011 from 10-11am for calling hours at St. Matthew’s Church, 111 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT 06084.
