Bruno A. Zagora
On Tuesday evening November 18th, 2011 Bruno Andrew Zagora went sleep peacefully with words of comfort from Granddaugher Dana to join his dear Stella into eternity. Before entering the US Navy, Bruno, worked for the American Mill Company in Rockville , CT with one of his favorite accomplishments was being a painter for the tallest steeples of the mills without safety harness. Just one of the very hard working things he did every day during his long life. He entered into service for his Country during WWII by leaving behind his wife and 2 young boys to join the US Navy in May of 1944. His Military service was on the USS Alexander J. Luke out of Newport RI and on the USS Honolulu out of Lido Beach, LI, NY. Upon his return home and up until his retirement he worked in the Postal Dept of the Travelers Insurance Company and enjoyed many years of friendship with his Associates.
The American Flag has always been a special source of pride. Everyone that knows him will remember him raising the American flag every morning and lowering it every evening regardless of weather conditions or his health. He was a member of the American Legion Post-14 Rockville, CT, The Italian American Club on Kingsbury Ave , Rockville and the Italian Social Club on Snipsic Street , Rockville , CT. He enjoyed and was so proud of his family especially his great grandchildren and all of their stories, accomplishments and events that he loved to hear and talk about. In addition he leaves his sister Julia Lemek, Gary Elliott, Steven Tulis, Tom & Billy Trapp, long time Fox Hill Drive , Rockville , Ct neighbors & friends especially George Dumas, The Benmaor family, The Shea family who stopped to visit him frequently (thank you all) and so many nieces and nephews & cousins. In addition to his wife Stella, he was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Felix, John & Michael and his sister Barbara Popick. In the last 3 months of living at Nora’s Place, Elm Street in Rockville he made many friends. A very gentle friend Ann who was angelic to him by being his eyes and his ears and made his transition to assisted living so much easier. Fr. Adolph thank you for being there “just in time”. Dear Nora and Bernie and Humanitarians & ECHN Visiting Nurses attending to his needs at Nora’s Place we can not thank you each of you enough for the kind, compassionate and patient caring for Bruno. Philip & Jessica Pietras (we love you both!) & All Pietras Family Funeral Home Associates (our extended family) for giving daily support through this journey.
