Anna Marie (Svejk) Zanghi, of Tolland, died peacefully in her sleep at Vernon Manor on Thursday (March 15, 2012), 17 days short of her 90th birthday. Born April 1, 1922 in Manhatten, NY to Anna (Heijl) and William Svejk. The family later moved to Tolland, where Anna was raised and lived for nearly all her life. A 1939 graduate of Rockville High School, Anna was employed at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft during WWII. On April 30, 1949 she married Concetto J. Zanghi by whom she was predeceased. Anna worked for Denson Electronics in Rockville from 1961 until 1982, when she retired to tend to her flowers, garden and other household pursuits. She leaves a daughter, Mary Zanghi of Tolland; a son, Joseph Zanghi, his wife Tamami and a granddaughter, Joanna of Tokyo, Japan; a nephew, four nieces and cousins, both from the area and in the Czech Republic. Relatives and friends may join the family Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 9 – 11 am at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road (rt.195), Tolland , followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 at St. Matthews Church, 111 Tolland Green Tolland.
