Paul Joseph Carley, 77, of Rockville, beloved husband of 24 years to Barbara (Helmns) Carley, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014. He was born June 6, 1936 in West Warwick, RI, son of the late John and Olivine (Cardin) Carley. As he wrote 60 years ago in his High School yearbook ambition "undecided", his wit and curiosity led him from the Air Force to a foundry worker; to a union machinist; to every odd job in automotive that no one wanted but had to be done; he tended bar at the Rockville Tavern for 41 years. He was a member of the TKB and Maple Grove Clubs. He loved working part-time for Aime and Bruce at A & B Auto Repair in Rockville. He loved his family gatherings, gardening, reading, tinkering, and the beach. Besides his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his children Wendy M. Carley of Tolland, John A. Carley of Manchester, Douglas P. Carley of Rockville, Lisa B. Marholin and her husband Jeffrey of Ellington, Carrie J. Lembo and her husband Brian of Fl, and Edward F. Chmielecki and his wife Jessica of South Windsor. He also leaves his grandchildren Samantha, Savannah, Douglas, Carley, Tracy, Max, Alison, Shauna, Katherine, and Tyler, his great grandson Mason, as well as his sister Anne M. Cournoyer of West Warwick, RI. In addition to his family he also leaves his best friend Ray and brothers-in-law Barry and Steven, and his loving companions Roscoe and Jake. Relatives and friends may join the family on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 11 am - 1 pm at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street, Rockville, CT 06066. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 pm. Military honors will be rendered directly following the memorial service. Burial will be private.
