Francis “Fran” Joseph Eckels, 73, of Ellington, beloved husband of Maureen M. (McGuinty) Eckels passed away, Monday, November 2, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 30, 1942 in Hartford, the son of Joseph Aloysius and Alice Irene (Klee) Eckels .Francis was a Healer. He worked for the Department of Corrections trying to heal people with addictions for over 20 years. Besides his loving wife of 30 years and mother, he is survived by his children, Deborah Henderson and her husband Samuel, Dennis Eckels, Denise Meyer and her husband Michael, Dawn Eckels, Daniel Eckels and his wife Cynthia and Kathryn Alexogiannis and her husband Angelo; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He also leaves his aunts, Dorothy Morganson and Barbara Hoffman; and his close special friend Jim McDaniels who visited him daily for the last several years. He was a friend of Bill W. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St. Rockville, CT 06066. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 AM on Friday, November 6, 2015 at St. Bernard’s Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace. Rockville, CT 06066. Burial will follow at Ellington Center Cemetery.
