Kelly (Sweeney) Vazquez, 48, beloved wife of Max Vazquez passed peacefully Friday, August 12, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born March 21, 1968 in Rockville to the late James and Wilma (Wright) Sweeney. She was very involved in local fife & drum corps as both a fifer and bass drummer the majority of her life. The corps that she belonged to include the Connecticut 8th Volunteers, Nathan Hale Ancients, Broad Brook Fire Department Fife & Drum Corps and the Warehouse Point Ancients. Kelly’s interests included a love of camping, cooking, karaoke, and crocheting, all of which she shared with all of her loved ones; she especially loved sharing her Irish luck with both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos.
Besides her husband Max she is survived by her son; Bishop Owens and his partner Yoona, her daughters; Jamie Sweeney and her partner Tony, Cassondra Breslin and her husband Sean, and Grace Vazquez, her sister; Mickey Akey and her husband Shawn, her brother; Jason Furrow and his wife Nikki, her grandchildren; Kayleigh, Andrew and Emma, and several nieces, nephews and cousins, her Aunt; Alice Holland and her husband William, her Uncle; John Mullan and his wife Sue, her stepsons; Adam, Michael and Kevin Knoff, and Christopher Vazquez, and her special friends Lori Hall, Kim Lavigne, Sophie Angelakopoulos and Dawn Gregory.
Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street, Rockville is assisting the family with arrangements. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service/Musical Tribute will be held at a later date, and in lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Kelly’s name to the American Lung Association at www.lung.org.
