Obituary for Shirley Brierley (Gasek)

Shirley (Gasek) Brierley, 93, of Vernon, beloved wife of 69 years of the late Clifford Brierley passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2017. She was born in Glastonbury, CT on August 1, 1924 daughter of the late Alexander and Antonia (Kondal) Gasek. She enjoyed taking care of her children, gardening and birds. She leaves three sons and a daughter, Clifford Brierley of Vernon, Donald Brierley and his wife Patricia of Somers, Kenneth Brierley and his wife Cathy of Mansfield, Diane (Brierley) Rothwell and her husband Douglas of South Windsor. She also leaves two grandchildren, Sara (Brierley) Arteaga and her husband Francisco of Danbury and Daniel Brierley and his wife Kristen from Ashford. She is survived by her sister, Louise Norton of Windsorville and her brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Sally Gasek of Ellington. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Aldrick Belanger and brother-in-law, Robert Norton. The family wishes to thank the staff at Vernon Manor and Visiting Nurses. Funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
