Obituary for Cecelia E. Burke

Cecelia (Ceil) Burke of Glastonbury and Misquamicut, RI, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018. She was predeceased by her forever loving husband Leonard and brother Alfred Eckert. She enjoyed golf, Bally’s Health Spa, and was a beautiful knitter. She knitted many ski sweaters, designing socks to match. Her highlight was when she crowned the Blessed Virgin Mary on Mother’s Day, May 1948 at St. Joseph Church, Vernon and went on a trip to Poland to visit her parents country. Ceil was a Research Librarian at Pratt & Whitney for 15 years. She setup a research library for Royal V at Elmwood Co. as well as a library at Space Center HSD in Farmington. She is survived by her beloved caring daughter Allison and her husband Skip McKiernan, 2 granddaughters Shannon and her husband Peter Mastrangelo and Lindsey McKiernan, and great grandchildren Austin, Michael, Gabby, and Anthony. Relatives and friends may join the family on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, CT 06066. A funeral procession will gather on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 by 9:15 am at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville to St. Joseph Church, Rockville for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10 am with burial to follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Vernon.
