Doris (West) Lambert, 88, of Tolland, died peacefully at her home on Friday, December 14, 2018, in her son’s arms, and began her journey to her forever home. She was born in Vernon on, December 6, 1930 to the late Alban and Jennie (Bridges) West and lived in Vernon (Rockville) and Tolland her entire life. She was predeceased by her husband, James Orvis Lambert, who passed away in 1981. She is also predeceased by many siblings, and has one surviving sister in Florida. Her son, Dana Lambert of Vernon, and daughter, Lisa (Lambert) Beaty of Wethersfield, will miss her dearly and the constant source of strength she exuded. She leaves four granddaughters and a great grandson, Kelly Lambert and her son Troy Waite, Jr., Cassie Lambert Johannsen, Alison Beaty and Jennifer Beaty. Doris worked her entire life, retiring at the age of 84, in various executive secretary positions at the State of Connecticut, Department of the Blind, Nelson Freightways Trucking Company and most recently as Assistant to the Mayor of the Town of Vernon. Doris was a dedicated fan of UCONN basketball, loved and valued “home”, NASCAR, going to car shows to share Dad’s 1968 Camaro that Dana fully restored, traveling, knitting, and laughter.
