Obituary for Donna L. Mulnite

Donna Luurstema Mulnite, of Broad Brook, CT, wife for 56 years of Leonard Mulnite, passed away on January 17, 2019 at Vernon Manor. She was born in Manchester on June 21, 1943, and is predeceased by her father Lt. Col. George P. Luurtsema, and stepmother Janet. Her father was a career officer with the Air Force; therefore, she moved around in her early years. Besides her husband Leonard Donna is survived by her son, Daryl Mulnite and his wife Nancy, two daughters, Kim Beckwith and her husband Bill and Debra Mulnite, three grandchildren, Lindsay, Alex and Devon and her great granddaughter, Savannah. She is also survived by a brother, Richard Luurtsema of Virginia, a sister in law, Ellie Little; and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a very caring mother and friend to all. In addition to raising her family, Donna worked in the Health industry. In partnership with others, established a walk-in-healthcare facility in South Windsor in the 1970’s, the very first in the area. For fun she loved the beach, traveling and was an avid reader. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Vernon Manor, Fox Hill and the VNA nursing staff of Vernon for their care and compassion during these last six months. Relatives and friends may join the family on Thursday, January 31, 2019 between 12pm-2pm with a Memorial Service at 2pm at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St., East Windsor. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Donations in memory of Donna may be made to the Five Corner Cupboard food pantry, 124 Scantic Road, East Windsor, CT, 06088.
