Rita attended the Brattleboro School of Nursing in Brattleboro, VT and was an LPN her whole life. Her kind, loving, compassionate, hard working nature was perfectly suited for her chosen career as a nurse. She chose to work in nursing homes most of her career, and always loved working with the elderly, often singing to them and trying to brighten their day. Rita retired in 2007 from Crestfield Nursing Home, Manchester, CT after working there for 25 years, where she made many dear friends. Rita was raised on her family's farm and very proud of her father and his sweet corn. This instilled in her a love for gardening and canning. Wherever she was, be it in Vermont, Connecticut, or Canada, she always had her garden. Rita loved the ocean and sitting in the sun. She enjoyed the Misquamicut vacations she took for many years with her children and grandchildren where many happy memories were made. Rita loved being a UCONN husky fan and watching all of their games. Rita loved her family and friends and getting together and cooking for them. She was a fun loving and truly supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by many. All services will be private at the convenience of the family.
