Obituary for George G. Jacobson II

George Goodwin Jacobson II, 90, recently of Fuquay Varina, NC passed away peacefully on April 1, 2019. in Angier, NC. He was born in South Coventry, CT on January 20, 1929 to Goodwin W Jacobson and Frances Estella Jacobson (Adams). He was a lifelong resident of Coventry until 2008 when he moved to North Carolina with his son's family. He was a lifetime employee of G. Fox & Company in Hartford, CT where he worked as an auto mechanic and later a carpenter. His responsibilities included starting and warming up the cars and trucks used by the store's sales and delivery personnel. It was on one of these mornings that he met a young interior decorator named Grace Pereira whom he later married on April 7th, 1951. They were married 51 years until Grace's passing on March 12, 2002.George was a history buff and had a great passion for steam locomotives and western novels. He was a member of St. Mary's church in Coventry. He met regularly with a group of gentlemen he fondly referred to as the 'Coventry Old Men's Club'. He is sorely missed, and will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle. A kind and gentle soul with a knack for telling stories about the old days of family, friends and his life growing up in Coventry. He is survived by his daughter Michele Jacobson of Bridgeport, CT, his son George, daughter in law Sherrill Klaiman Jacobson, and granddaughter Ana Jacobson of Fuquay Varina NC, sisters in law Joyce Willey of Vero Beach FL, Jeanne Jacobson of Coventry CT, and Beverly Pereira of Coconut Beach FL, cousin Carol Lorenc of Andover CT, and many special nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Grace Pereira Jacobson, brothers Alton Taylor and Walter Jacobson, niece Donna Lynne Jacobson and cousin Joan Rood. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating his life from 5PM - 7PM on Tuesday April 9th 2019 at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Road, Tolland CT. 06084 A memorial service will be held the following morning at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday April 10th 2019 at 10 AM with burial after at Cromwell Hillside Cemetery in Cromwell CT.
