Obituary

Morrill, Malcolm, 77, of Ellington, husband of 54 years to the late Barbara (Rick)
Morrill, passed away on May 12, 2019 with his daughter, Beth by his side at
Rockville General Hospital from complications of diabetes. Mal, as he was always
quick to tell you he wanted to be called, not Malcolm, was born on April 22, 1942
in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Ralph C. & Phyllis (Gale) Morrill. He was raised
in Stowe, Vermont before moving to Ellington as a young boy. He attended
Ellington schools and was a 1961 graduate of Ellington High School. He retired
from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, where he was a machinist &
foreman for 22 years and later retired from Shawmut Equipment, where he worked
as a mechanic. During his retirement, he was a porter at Ellington Big Y. Mal was
a member of the NRA and the Somers Sportsmen's Association, where he enjoyed
trap shooting. He was a past member of Rockville Fish & Game and the New
England Doodlebug Association. Mal enjoyed being outside, mowing his lawn,
spending time at the range, gunsmithing, and "puttering" in his garage. He is
survived by his children and their spouses, Steven & Kim (Reutter) Morrill, Beth
& David Spielman, all of Ellington and Amy & John Coleman of New Hampshire;
six grandchildren, Michael Flanagan, Dane Spielman, Kaylyn (Morrill) Chasse,
Nathan Morrill, Rebecca Morrill & Robin Morrill; and four great-grandchildren,
Colton Spielman, Leo Flanagan, Thea Flanagan, & Jacob Chasse. He also leaves
to miss him, his cousin and good friend Rick and close friend, John, who were
always there for him. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his
brother Ralph C. Morrill, Jr. In respecting Mal’s wishes, there will be no calling
hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. His family would like to
thank all the wonderful and caring nurses and CNA's that took very special care of
Mal during his time at Woodlake and in the Rockville General Hospital ICU. For online condolences, please visit www.pietrasfuneralhome.com

Sometimes there are no words that can truly express the pain that we feel when someone so special leaves us. It is then we are reminded that our Heavenly Father always hears the cries of our heart and is ready to extend his loving care and comfort. 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4. May you always feel his presence and peace as we await the day when we embrace our loved ones again. John 6:40. Remembering Malcolm always in our heart. Extending our deepest condolences and prayers to the family.
