Obituary for Sandra M. Fox-Plummer

Sandra M. Fox-Plummer, 69, beloved wife of David Plummer passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born in Manchester on May 16, 1950 to the late William and Marie (Clynch) Fox. Her gentle, kind and loving spirit was greatly cherished by all who knew her. Sandy had a long career in education in the Manchester school system; first as an elementary school teacher and, for most of her career, she was a school psychologist for all of the elementary public and parochial schools. She also worked as a librarian and media specialist running multiple libraries and media centers in the schools. Sandy was a perpetual student. She held a BS degree from Central Connecticut State University in Education, Post Graduate certification from Southern Connecticut State University in Library Science, and a Masters degree in Psychology from the University of Connecticut. Talented, artistic and eager to learn, she was always taking additional classes in subject matter and activities that interested her. She had a joy for color, flowers, birds and nature and she particularly loved her watercolor painting and flower arranging classes; her love of flowers always evident in the beautiful gardens surrounding her and her husband’s lakeside home. Sandy loved the serenity of the lake, enjoying entertaining friends, kayaking, swimming and sunsets. She had a love for the water and beach. Sandy and her husband sailed for many years out of Mystic and were members of the Baldwin Yacht Club and the Mystic Seaport. Growing up Sandy was a parishioner at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Manchester where she sang in the junior choir. Besides her husband David, Sandy is survived by her step-daughter, Robin Argiriou and her husband Nick and their three children Grace, Alaina and Madeleine; her brother, David Fox and his wife Lori and their daughter Carly Fox; her God Mother and first cousin Marilyn (Fox) Pariseleti; and her special lifetime friends, Linda Wiley, Marlene Clark, and Cheryl “Teddy” Hoops. The family would like to send out a special thank you to Hartford Hospital Healthcare at Home and Manchester Manor Rehabilitation for the wonderful care given to Sandy. Relatives and friends may join the family on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 12-2 pm at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, CT. A Funeral Home Service will take place at 2:00 pm.
