Obituary for Theresa F. Swegel

Born in 1928 in Bristol, RI, Theresa will be remembered for her extraordinary devotion to her family. Her life story is one of grit and determination to overcome incredible odds raising and protecting her four children and contributing successfully to the lives of so many others. She was an inspirational person recognized for her good deeds, generosity and achievements.

To know Theresa was to know her incredible character of devotion and sacrifice to her family. When she was not working or doing for others Theresa liked to cook, enjoy the outdoors, sew, and visit with her family and friends. She was a beautiful woman and always attracted attention, of which she was completely unaware.

Theresa was the beloved and devoted wife of Thomas Swegel for 40 years. She is survived by her four children, Susan Crookston of Yorktown Heights, NY, Teresa Wilson, of Coventry CT, Alan Mello of Galveston, TX and Washington, CT, and Frances Cole of Hingham, MA. In addition, Theresa is survived by her beloved sister Connie Lamoureux of Glastonbury, CT. Theresa has 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, all of whom she loved, protected, and embraced though spread across this great country she so cherished.

Memorial gifts may be made to the St. Mary Church in Coventry, CT and dedicated to families in need.

The Pietras Funeral Home, Coventry, CT, has been entrusted with arrangements. A memorial service is planned for January, 25th at 10 am, at St. Mary Church, Coventry, CT. Father John Antonelli will conduct the service. All are invited to attend the service and a luncheon reception at Georgina’s Restaurant in Bolton CT at 12:15.
