Obituary for Frederick Sanford White

Frederick Sanford White, 94, of Coventry, beloved husband of Bertha White passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020. He was born January 12, 1926 in Coventry, the son of the late Frederick and Elizabeth (Armstrong) White. He was a good Samaritan to friends and strangers alike. It was not unusual to learn that he had recently stopped to help a stranger change a flat tire or start a stalled car. He loved to tinker. When you visited Fred at the White family homestead in Coventry you never knew what new project would be underway. He worked for many years as a product engineer at Chandler and Evans. He leaves behind cherished memories with all who were lucky to know him. Besides his wife, Fred is survived by 25 nephews and nieces. He was everyone's favorite uncle and loved them all. He took many canoe trips in the north woods of Maine often taking nephews and nieces on his adventures. He never lost his wonder and fascination with the world around him. Fred was predeceased by his 9 brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Couch, Catherine Hills, Robert, Dorothy Ellis, Marion Rathbun, Grace Dunlap, Gertrude, Mary Allen, and Nathan. The memorial service previously scheduled for 11 AM on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the First Congregational Church of Coventry, 1171 Main St., Coventry has been postponed at this time.
