Obituary for John Christopher Daley

John C. Daley, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 13, 2020 at his family home in Willington. He was the husband of Judith (Hoyt) Daley with whom he shared 39 cherished years of marriage.
Born in Stafford Springs, CT, John was the son of the late Frances (Lamb) and Raymond Daley. He attended Windham High School graduating in 1964. John spent his life working on small engine repair starting at Nan-Da-Lou in Willington. Finding there was nothing he couldn’t fix, he opened Daley’s Power Equipment in Tolland. During the many years of owning his own business, all were welcomed through the doors and his customers were known as “his people”.
One of his greatest joys was escaping to Sangerville Maine, first snowmobiling with friends and later extended summer vacations with family, all while making life long friends and memories around Frog Hollow.
John is survived by two daughters, Meghan Daley and significant other Troy Sposato, Emily Haggan and a son-in-law he considered his own, John Haggan, and two grandsons who were the highlight and joy of Papa’s life, Colin and Camden Galusha.
John is also survived by his sisters, Kathleen (Pete) MacDonald and Elizabeth (Bill) Cheney and his brother Charles (Isabelle) Daley. He was a proud brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
John was a man of few words but what he said was always kind, hilarious or unforgettable. He was the neighbor you always wanted, never hesitating to lend a hand. He was a patient teacher who found a lesson in everything. Above all else he was a fierce lover of his family and he will be dearly missed.
A private service will be held at the family’s convenience, arrangements provided by Pietras Funeral home. In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to a college fund created for Colin and Camden. For online condolences please visit www.pietrasfuneralhome.com.
