Obituary for Steven Robert Carr
We are deeply saddened that on Monday, September 7, 2020 our beloved Steven Robert Carr passed on to the next life as the result of injuries sustained in a single vehicle accident while traveling a road he frequented. In that moment, our family was shattered by the loss of an incredible son, sibling, friend, and compassionate loving human being.
Steven was a resident of Tolland, CT. In 2015, he graduated from Tolland High School and went on to Franklin Pierce University where he graduated in 2019 Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management.
Prior to graduation, Steven was accepted into a summer internship program for business management at Aetna in Hartford, CT. By the end of the short program, Steven was offered a full-time position in an elite Business Management Development Program where he was working currently and wrapping up his first 18-month rotation of three to complete the program.
In Steven’s time with us, he lived an amazing life. He loved his family, friends, and most of all loved life. In the past 18 months he was back home in Tolland where he focused on fulfilling a childhood dream. He accomplished this by purchasing his Ford F-150 pickup truck, installing a lift kit, and of course customizing it with his signature multi-color LED light kit. That truck is his pride and joy and a true testament that dreams do come true.
Steven spent his life pursuing his dreams. He had a love for fishing and did this every moment he could with his friend or dad by his side. He took advantage of the winter season going snowboarding even on the coldest of days. He looked forward to his annual mountain bike trip to East Burke, VT with his dad and long-time friends. Steven and his dad made every effort to mountain bike in local state forests so they could bond and just simply be together. He made time for everyone in his life. Steven loved adventure, but at the very same he cherished moments of comfort and laughter with his mom at home. He cared to share his time with everyone, even in the simplest of ways. A day hanging at the pool, a bon fire in a back yard, a night out for a beer, an evening at home playing “hot sauce roulette” or the vacation of a life time to the Outer Banks this past summer. No matter what the plan was with him, you were guaranteed to laugh, smile, and simply live that day to its capacity.
Steven was sensitive and compassionate enough to have a special bond with each person in his life, but none like the unique bond he had with his older sister, Kristin. They had a way of turning the most mundane, and otherwise forgettable moments into coveted memories filled with made-up games, turning chores into infomercials, and undeniable fun that can never be taken away. From quiet coffee hour chats, jumping in to help with dinner or charging up those basements stairs to share some exciting news, Steven made you feel special. He made you feel like there was no one else in this world but you at that moment.
Steven has been an active soul since he could walk. He played youth baseball, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse. He has flown single engine airplanes with his dad and gone on short trips to Block Island, Nantucket, and Cape Cod. He was an experienced ATV and snowmobile operator and recently received his captains license for boating. He and his dad went target shooting often at the East Windsor Sportsman’s Association. Steven was a true outdoorsman with a love for camping, fishing, cutting wood, driving tractors, Ranger ATVs, Quads and hiking Mount Katahdin in Maine.
In April of this year, he fulfilled another of his dreams with the purchase of a street motorcycle. Like everything he owned, he spent countless hours customizing it down to the tiniest detail. He loved cruising with his dad and close friend always by his side. He was blessed with true, loyal, caring friends and family. Steven spent his life creating memories and we are so blessed to have been a part of each one. Please carry Steven in deep your hearts as we learn how to move forward. Keep bringing him on those adventures, nights by the fire, days at the pool and all of life’s events yet to come.
Steven was predeceased by his grandfather’s Cliff Jones, Sr, and George Robert Carr, Great aunt Emily McKeown and Uncle Mark Jones. He is survived by his loving and devoted parents Robert James Carr (Lisa Tutino) of Ellington and Denise Marie Jones (Mark Ranucci) of Tolland. His big sister and partner in crime Kristin Carr of Tolland, her partner Cristina Cruz, and his beloved fur niece Button aka his “Peanut”, and his forever buds Sadie and Bailey. His loving grandmothers Carol Jones (Terebesi) of Fairfield and Betty Carr (McKeown) of Ellington. His Uncle Cliff Jones (Karen) of Fairfield, Uncle Ken Jones of Milford, Uncle Darryl Jones (Ayano) of Greenville, SC, Aunt Christine Fritz (Kevin) of Enfield, Uncle Jeffery Carr of Ellington. His cousins Brittany Strazza (Jones) of West Haven, Ridge and Spencer Jones of Fairfield, Alisa and Kent Jones of Greenville, SC, Kayla Fritz of Enfield and her daughter Lilah Rose, Jonathan Carr of Enfield, Jordan, and Taylor Fritz of Enfield and Cameron Carr of Manchester.
