Obituary for Terri Thompson
Terri E. (Doughty) Thompson of Somers, CT, wife of over 53 years to the love of her life husband Royal (Roy) E. Thompson Jr, passed away December 29, 2020.
Terri was born in Bridgeton, ME on March 4, 1947 to the late Edwin Doughty and late Roberta (Hunt) Doughty. Terri was raised in Manchester, CT and graduated from Manchester High School then went on to work at AT&T. She worked for several years at Arthur Drug Store in Rockville, CT.
Terri retired from working over 25 years for Dr. Harold Shapiro, a pediatrician, in Vernon, CT.
Terri was predeceased by her loving sisters, Donna Foster and Joanne Mikoliet. She leaves a sister, Janet Aiello of Warwick, RI. Terri is survived by her children Jodie Hanks and her husband John, Jenni Thompson and her wife Sher Lisitano and Jeffrey Thompson and his wife Carrie.
Terri is survived by her brother in law, Robert Thompson of Port Orange, FL.
Terri also leaves grandchildren Jordan Hagenow and husband Sean Thompson, Casey Hagenow and Alex Thompson as well as great grandchildren Bruce Thompson and Victor Thompson.
Terri was a devout Christian, an avid reader and loved animals. She kept beautiful gardens and loved the wildlife. She fed the birds and squirrels and had a special bond with her many cats and her Amazon Parrot, Machita. She and her husband loved to travel. They were able to visit many national parks: Yellowstone, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Badlands, Glacier National Park as well as trips to Alaska and Hawaii. Her photography of these beautiful sights is breathtaking. A private service will be held graveside for her family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
