Obituary for Theresa Shustock

Theresa Giroux Shustock, beloved wife of the late Lawrence F. Shustock and loving mother died suddenly on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. She was born on July 1, 1934 to the late Leo and Annette (Benoit) Giroux. She was a graduate of Hartford Highschool and worked at Hartford Public Library until her Marriage. They moved to Broad Brook in 1958 to raise their ever growing family.

She was a devoted member of St. Catherine Church in Broad Brook for over 60 years. She dedicated many hours to St. Catherine Church Library with sister Mary and teaching Catechism. She spent many years updating the cemetery records online with Ann Duffy. She was an active member of the Alter Rosary Society, the Prayer Shawl Ministry and the garden club. She was also an executive secretary at Manchester Community College for over 20 years. She enjoyed traveling with the ladies to Lake George, Vermont, the Cape, Collin’s Creamery and breakfast after Church on Sundays. She was an avid reader always had a book at hand to read. She enjoyed picking blueberries at Gilson Farms. She was famous for her cream puffs and blueberry coffeecake.

She was predeceased by her sister Marguerite Giroux and her granddaughter Victoria. She leaves behind her loving children who will miss her greatly, Lawrence, Celeste, Elaine(William), Daniel, Paul and his wife Susan, Vincent, Timothy, Andrew, Robert and Michael, her 9 grandchildren John, Christine, Tabitha, Steven, Bethany, Alexandria, Theresa, Angela(Jay), Laura Rose(Ant), and 2 much adored great grandchildren Zelano and Melania.

She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, sister in laws, Jeannette and Doris, brother in law Ted, cousin Ronald and his wife Betty as well as her many lady friends Sue P., Germaine, Claira, Pat, Ellie, Amy, Maxine, Ellie, Irene, Karen, Cathy, Lorry, Karen, Elaine and many more.

Relatives and friends may join the family on Sunday January 31, 2021 between 3pm-5pm at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner Street, East Windsor, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 11am at St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad Street, Windsor, CT. Burial will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in East Windsor, CT. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1365 Enfield Street, Enfield, CT or Warehouse Point Library Association, 107 Main Street, East Windsor, CT.
