Obituary for Jerry Connors

Jerry Connors, 79, of Ellington, beloved husband to Elaine (LeBlanc) Connors passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at home with his family by his side. He was born January 14, 1942 in Rockville to the late Charles and Margaret (Dowd) Connors. He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He married Elaine in 1967. He was a Life Member and past Chief (1983-1990) of the Ellington Fire Department serving as Lieutenant (1976-1977), Captain (1977-1978) and Assistant Chief (1978-83). Jerry was the Chief of the Somers-Enfield Department of Correction Fire Department from which he retired in 2002. He loved his race team with his sons at Riverside Park and Thompson Speedway. He was proud of his property and home spending a lot of time manicuring his lawn. Jerry had a passion for country music and was a dedicated employee at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home manning the building during calling hours and helping out on funerals for over 38 years. Besides his wife Elaine, Jerry is survived by his sons; James and his wife Maria and Jeffrey and his wife Jennifer; his brothers, Daniel and Charles and his grandchildren who he adored; Aidan, Levi, Sophia and Shane. Relatives and friends may join the family on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 4-6:30 for a walk thru visitation at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St, Rockville. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Blessed Sacrament-St.Bernards Church, Rockville on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11:00 am (please meet at church) . Burial will follow with full military honors at Ellington Center Cemetery. Please abide by CDC regulations, masks and social distancing will be mandatory.
