Obituary for Wanda A. Bocon

Wanda Ann (Blusiewicz) Bocon, 90, of Ellington, formerly of Willington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 7, 2021.

Wanda was born in Hartford on March 31, 1930. She graduated from Hartford Public School. Growing up she played softball and passed on her love of sports to her children and grandchildren.

She loved to tell people about where she had worked. She was a clerk at Newberry’s and was an administrative assistant for Travelers, for the Town of Farmington, and for the Adult Probation department.

Wanda was a devoted wife, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She was a welcoming hostess who cooked and baked delicious meals and desserts and shared her skills whenever asked. Her apple pie was a family favorite. Wanda loved watching tennis and classic movies and enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She enjoyed music and dancing, especially to the tunes of Elvis Presley and Bruce Springsteen. For a time, she and her husband maintained a family farm. Generous, friendly, and funny, Wanda put smiles on the faces of the many lives she touched.

Wanda is predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Ted. She is survived by her sister, Sophie Cancelmo; brother-in-law Fred Bocon; son Ted Bocon Jr. and his wife Wendy of Willington; son Michael Bocon of Thailand; daughter Diane Tortora and her husband Bill of Willington; son Steven Bocon of Largo, Florida; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought great joy to her life.

Wanda’s family wishes to thank the staff at the Ivy at Ellington for their care and compassion.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Willington Hill Cemetery. For online condolences please visit: www.pietrasfuneralhome.com
