Obituary for David H. Grace

David Grace, 65, of Coventry passed away March 5 at Manchester Hospital, with his brother by his side, following complications from chronic kidney disease. Dave was born February 1, 1956 in Hartford, the son of the late David H. and Dorothy (Keefe) Grace.
A lifelong resident of Coventry, Dave was a member of the Coventry High School Class of 1974. Dave was always drawn to technology and the way things work. He would go on to earn degrees in Manufacturing Engineering and Industrial Supervision. Coming from a family of educators, it was only natural that he later earned a Masters in Education so he could pass his extensive knowledge of computer aided design and the manufacturing process to the next generation. Dave held numerous jobs over the years, primarily in aerospace engineering and in the vocational technical school system.
Dave was predeceased by his parents as well as his sister Janet who also left us far too soon this past June. He is survived by his brother Ed Grace and his wife Susan of Coventry, and his four nephews and their spouses: Adam Grace of Coventry, Chris and Claire Conroy of South Windsor, Keith and Cheryl Conroy of Coventry, Scott and Jess Conroy of Manchester, as well as one grand-niece, Tessa Grace Conroy of Coventry.
Dave loved life and loved being a “townie.” His numerous friends are primarily the ones he grew up with a half century ago in Coventry and those he knew about town. He had a life long love of sports, his passion in his younger days being basketball, basketball, basketball. He was diehard fan of the UConn Mens Basketball Team decades before their success and the same with the Dallas Cowboys.
Due to the pandemic the family regrets that their will be no calling hours or church service. Their will be a graveside service Saturday March 13 at 10AM at Saint Mary’s Cemetery open to those who feel comfortable attending.
We would like to thank all the friends who have been so supportive during such a trying year, losing two siblings 9 months apart. Those who wish to remember Dave and Jan can best do so by being kind and generous to your fellow passengers on this short journey which, as we have witnessed, can end suddenly and far too soon.
