Obituary for Carolyn Dzat

Carolyn (Slota) Dzat, 85, devoted wife of the late Raymond Dzat, Sr., passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021. She was born on April 9, 1935 to the late Rudolph and Jane (Zalenski) Slota.

Carol grew up in Rockville, and lived most of her years in Tolland before transitioning to a nursing care facility in Vernon in 2014. She was employed with Travelers Insurance, and then with the Connecticut Labor Department as a Stenographer. As a young mother, she demonstrated her innate will to live when she suffered a brain aneurysm. Her determined nature, strength, sense of humor, and caring family sustained her when most would have faltered. Those who know and love her have always been inspired by her driven spirit. Carol loved fishing with her husband, their annual vacation at Misquamicut Beach, playing cards, bowling, and an occasional trip to the casino. She always made sure to save room for dessert.

She leaves in mourning her daughter, Joanne Trigo of Rockville, her son, Raymond Dzat, Jr. of Manchester, her grandchildren Thomas Lintner, Keri Trigo, and Dylan Dzat, her siblings Edward Slota, Lorraine Maciorowski, David Slota, and Virginia Devost, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her loving husband, she was predeceased recently by her sister, Phyllis Glynn, and in 2015 by her granddaughter, Alanna Dzat.

Carol’s family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the staff at Fox Hill Center for the exceptional care they provided to her for many years, and for the care they provided to Ray, Sr. shortly before he passed away.

Relatives and friends may join the family on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 33 West St., Rockville. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville.
