Obituary for Robert "Bob" Williams

Robert “Bob” Williams, 80, of Windsor Locks, formerly of East Windsor, beloved husband of Diana (Fisher) Williams passed away March 9, 2021 after a long and valiant effort with Parkinson’s Disease. Bob was born May 18, 1940 in Pittston Township PA, the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Ryan) Williams. Bob was a positive soul who loved life and saw the best in everyone and everything. He firmly believed “for every one bad person, there are one thousand good people” and often said “Don’t sweat the small stuff”. He graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1958 and attended evening classes at the University of Hartford. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. Bob had a 35-year career at Aetna Life & Casualty, as the Manager and Liaison of Printing Services. He enjoyed playing basketball and was proud of having run in the Manchester Thanksgiving Day Road Race for 27 years. Bob and his wife were inseparable and loved to explore our wonderful country in their motor home, as well as hiking, bicycling, riding his motorcycle, and skiing together, especially in Vermont. He also could be seen at car shows with his 1979 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. Other cars he was pleased to own were a 1955 Austin Healey and 1929 LaSalle. He was a member of the East Windsor Lions Club for twelve years and an active participant in the youth exchange program. He delighted in sharing his childhood Hartford neighborhood and city. One of his creative pastimes was writing, including poems to his wife, but his pride, joy and most satisfying accomplishment was his family. He was a devoted family man, a wonderful husband, a fantastic father, and the best grandfather anyone could hope for. Bob kept us laughing with his humor until the end and will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate to know him. Besides his loving wife, Diana, of 60 years, he is survived by his four children David and his wife Suzanne Williams of Canton CT; Linda and her husband Richard Suleski of Enfield CT; Thomas and his wife Kristin Russell-Williams of Bolton CT; and Nancy and her husband Russell Anselmo of Glastonbury CT. He is also survived by, as he called them, his “superstar” grandchildren whom he loved to boast about: Michael and his wife Lauren Masullo; Michael, Karen, Stacey, Ryan and Sean Suleski; Madeline and Hannah Anselmo; and Elinor “Ellie” Williams. Waiting for him in Heaven are his two brothers Jack and Bill, as well as many family members. He also is survived by his sisters Betsy, Mary, Carol, many nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and neighbors. A memorial service will be private for immediate family at Mary, Gate of Heaven Parish in Windsor Locks. For online condolences please visit: www.pietrasfuneralhome.com
