Obituary for Douglas L. Rajala

Douglas L. “Dougie” Rajala, 56, of Broad Brook, CT, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2021, after a 6-year battle with ALS. Born in Broad Brook, CT on June 2, 1964, son of Jack and Marilyn Rajala, Dougie spent 17 years working at the Windsorville Cemetery in East Windsor, CT and 12 years at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield, CT. In his free time, he loved to putts around doing yard work like mowing the lawn, planting flowers and making small projects. He loved driving his black Ford Ranger with 2 white stripes down the middle and monster sticker on the back that he designed while blaring Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, or Chuck Berry tapping his thumb ring against the shift stick. Dougie will forever be known for his creativity, artistic talent, and his ability to make his drawings come to life. Dougie loved every project he did, whether that was scraping old parts from a bicycle and making something of his own or fixing up old antiques from the side of the road; he used the world as his canvas. We will forever miss his charming smirk and sense of humor. Dougie leaves behind his four older brothers, his loving friend Beth Taylor; his three children, Dillon and Tucker Rajala and Parker Grasso and his wife Samantha; two grandchildren, Aiden and Carter Grasso. Relatives and friends may join the family on Monday, May 3, 2021 between 10AM-12PM at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner Street, East Windsor, CT. Burial will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in East Windsor, CT. For online condolences please visit www.pietrasfuneralhome.com.
