Obituary

Seamus B. Oatis, 47, most recently of Tolland and formerly of Meriden, beloved husband of Heather (Kozlowski) Oatis passed away peacefully Monday, April 19, 2021 at home. He was born October 29, 1973 in Meriden, the son of Sofie (Bulka) Buyniski and the late James Oatis, III.

After graduating from Central Connecticut State University, Seamus built his career on service to others working for the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. He found joy in providing care for those who could not care for themselves. Outside of work, Seamus was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. It was always football season and there was always Cowboys news to be caught up on. Seamus was also a Jeep enthusiast, never going too long before having to purchase another to tinker with.

Besides his loving wife and mother, Seamus is survived by his beloved daughters Lydia and Gracelyn; his brother Derek Oatis and Lisa Zalaski; his aunt Raisa Fahy; his close cousin Yuri and Missy Fahy, their children Bjorn and Willow; his stepfather Joseph Buyniski; stepsiblings Alex Buyniski and Larissa Dumais; his stepmother Carol Zipp-Oatis; and his dog Jug Head. Seamus is also survived by many cousins and life-long friends who he treasured. He was predeceased by his father, grandparents, uncle Michael Fahy, and many rescued dogs over the years.

A celebration of Seamus' life will be held on Sunday, June 13th at 1pm at YMCA Mountain Mist, 576 High Hill Rd., Meriden in the lower pavilion. All are welcome to come share fun stories and memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Meriden Humane Society, www.meridenhumanesocietyrescue.com, where Seamus had adopted many pets. Heather & family, We are old neighbors, from Finch Ave in Meriden. What a amazing smile, even as a kid playing in our yard, swimming in our pool, playing with our children, he was always such a nice kid to have around. We will smile always when we think of him. We are so sorry for your loss of this wonderful young man. Mark & Rosemary Fritz
