Obituary for Stanley Szemreylo

Stanley Szemreylo, 97, of Tolland CT and Eastham, Cape Cod, passed away on Tuesday (May 11, 2021). He was the son of Kondrat and Anastasia (Zocplawa) Szemreylo. He was proud of his education which started in a one room school house where the teachers taught six grades. He graduated from Rockville High School where students attended from surrounding town. He was in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of a bomber crew on a B24 Bomber and stationed in Italy. He participated in 27 Bombing Missions. He was a member of the 484 Bomb Group Associations and attended their annual reunions in various cities in the United States. The association on longer exists. He graduated from the University of Connecticut with many war veterans. He worked and studied to become a Certified Public Accountant. His working career was as an Internal Auditor for various corporations who had many branches and required a great deal of travel and relocations. He Lived In San Francisco, Louisville, KY, Waterbury and Stamford, CT. However, he always considered the Family Homestead in Tolland as his official residence. He liked to attend musical stage presentations and saw many celebrities perform in Hartford and Broadway. He enjoyed also saw many first time presentations in New Haven before going to Broadway. He enjoyed vacationing and spending time at his place on Cape Cod. He was a member of the Connecticut Society of Public Accountants and a former Treasurer of the Tolland Historical Society. He was a fan of the UCONN Women’s Basketball team and had season tickets for many yearsand attended many final fours. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers and their wives, John and Minnie, Charles and Ann, Henry and Ann, Michael, his sister Philez, Ann and her husband Mickey, and his nephew Michael. He is survived by his nephews and their wives Henry and Debbie, Conrad and Gretchen; nieces Joan Szemreylo, Jenifer and her husband Daniel Veltri MD, Sue Ellen and her husband Albert of CA, Ann and her husband Martin Honigberg of NH. He also leaves many grand nephews and nieces. Special thanks to the hospice nurse Sharon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at St. Mathew’s Church, Tolland.
