Obituary for Alfred L. Zwingelstein

Alfred L. Zwingelstein, 90, of Stafford Springs beloved husband for 48 years to Barbara, died on Wednesday, May 27, 2021 at Manchester Memorial Hospital after various cancers since 1983. He was born April 7, 1931 in Ellington to Louis and Elsie (Miller) Zwingelstein. He was a 1944 graduate of St. Bernard School in Rockville and a 1948 graduate of Rockville High. Alfred proudly served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He was stationed at Sheppard AFB, TX, Chanute AFB, Ill, McGuire AFB, NJ and stationed in Japan. He retired from the VA Medical Center in Newington in June 1992 after 25 years and a total of 37 years with the Federal Service. He also enjoyed, boating, water skiing, woodworking and basic puttering, playing cards and slots. Alfred is survived by his son Gary (Kim) of Columbia,CT; his Favorite daughter, Linda (Paul) Joudrey of Bradenton,FL; his son Jerry and partner (Stacy) of Glastonbury,C; his son John of Stafford Springs,CT; his niece, Jeanie (Byron) Schneider of Tolland,CT; Grandchildren, Brian, Sarah , Josh, Rachael, Krystena and specials friends, Chris & Steve, Cherie, Connie, Lori and Ron. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Louis Zwingelstein, his sister-in-law Beverly and his faithful companions, Skipper, Benji, Amy and his mean parrot Charlie. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Bey for his special care for Alfred over many years. Relatives and friends may join the family from 9-11 am on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Burke Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect st, Rockville. A Funeral Home Service will take place at 11:00 am.
