Paul M. St. Louis passed away unexpectedly at home on May 31, 2021 after years of numerous health issues. He was born August 30, 1946 in Rockville to the late Wilfred and Alice (Brennan) St. Louis.

Paul was a retired French teacher at East Hartford High School. He had lived in Ellington and Vernon, CT before moving to Monson, MA in 1988.

Paul was the long term treasurer for C.O.L.T. (CT Organization of Language Teacher) at the time of his passing.

Paul was a 1964 graduate of Ellington High School, and a graduate of Boston College. He obtained his Masters from Trinity College.

He loved France and traveled there many times with students as a chaperone and also with friends. He worked briefly at Glastonbury Board of Education after retirement from teaching.

He leaves his best friend and partner in life, Arthur Kamienski of Monson, MA. He also leaves several cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and their families. Missing him also is Barbara Lindsay of California, Stuart and Cheryl Savage of Minnesota, and of course all the friends at C.O.L.T!

“Be at peace my love, your many trials are over.”

In lieu of services, a memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Burke-Fortin funeral home is entrusted with arrangements. For online condolences please visit:

I was lucky enough to know and work with Paul when he was treasurer of COLT. His loss will be felt by many. May the memories of his wonderful personality and many contributions to world languages be celebrated . What a large footprint Paul you have left behind.
Forever grateful.

I have been truly blessed to have been counted among Paul's friends. We should all be so fortunate to have someone like Paul in our lives. He was unfailingly kind, supportive and funny. He never forgot a birthday and always asked about my family and my fur babies. A wonderful cook and baker, he regularly gifted me with his creations and guided me in their recreations. He sent me the most thoughtful gifts and always included something for my cats. He carpooled with me, almost always driving me to our CT COLT meetings. He would often pick me up from the airport or drop me off at the train station, even late at night. He was a loyal and steady friend who shared my joys and and helped me through my sorrows. He had an amazing amount of institutional knowledge of Connecticut's language organization, CT COLT, and was the unofficial mentor of many of its presidents, in addition to serving decades as its treasurer, conference registrar, webmaster and newsletter editor. I could not have served on the board without his humble support and guidance. Everything he undertook, he did with great care, attention to detail, and professionalism. But above all, Paul was just a wonderful, wonderful human being. His sudden passing has left a huge hole in my heart and I will miss him terribly for the test of my days. May you rest in peace, free from pain, dear friend. My heart and sympathies to the love of his life, Art.
