Obituary

Charles W. Johnston, 55, of Broad Brook, CT passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford where he lost his battle with cancer at 12:15 am, with his loving step daughters, Sharon and Ashley Coté at his side as he took his last breath.

He was the son of the late Llewellyn “Sonny” Johnston and Sharon I. (Hewitt) Johnston. Charlie was born in Rockville, but spent the remainder of his life in the township of Broad Brook.

Charlie was a loving husband and stepfather. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Carol M. Johnston (Trombley- Coté) and an awesome older brother, Ricky Johnston.

Charlie is survived by his eldest brother, Stephen Johnston also from Broad Brook and another brother, Danny Johnston and his wife Lisa of East Windsor; as well as two nephews, Christopher Johnston of Enfield and Coty Johnston of East Windsor.

He is also survived by two step daughters, Sharon Coté and her three children, Erica Coté and Logan and Liana Fauteux, and Ashley Coté and her son Noah Clark; two step sons, Scott Trombley and Gary Coté and his son Gary Coté Jr. as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends.

Charlie worked many years for Local Union #9 in Rocky Hill until he became disabled. He liked to fish in his spare time and watch Westerns. He never missed a 007 movie.

The covid pandemic had made it especially hard to see or speak to Charles in the past year, but his nephew Christopher was lucky enough to have seen and visited with his uncle on several occasions, due to his being dedicated to the medical field.

He is loved by many and will be soulfully missed.

At this time, the remaining immediate Johnston family respectfully request privacy and will lovingly pursue a private service at a date and time of their choosing. For online condolences please visit: www.pietrasfuneralhome.com
